New Leaf Psychology Centre offers psychological services for children diagnosed with Autism and their families. This includes comprehensive assessments, treatment planning, mental health treatment (therapy), parent therapy, and parent coaching provided by clinicians with extensive experience working with ASD.
Diagnostic Assessments for ASD
Autism assessments completed at New Leaf Psychology Centre are comprehensive, involving parent interviews, observation of the child, administration of autism specific assessment tools (e.g. ADOS) and, depending on age, a full psychoeducational assessment (including consideration of intellect, executive functioning, academic skills, and adaptive functioning). Recommendations are provided at the feedback session and are included in the final report. A total of 5 to 8 sessions are required, depending on the age and symptoms of the individual assessed. Assessments are available across the lifespan.

Developmental Services Ontario Assessment
This assessment is specifically designed to meet the requirements of an assessment by the DSO if a psychoeducational assessment and/or developmental assessment has not been previously completed between the ages of 16 and 21 or is missing the required information. This assessment includes a measure of cognitive functioning and a measure of adaptive abilities and is available for individuals aged 16 through 21.
Treatment Planning for ASD
Experienced clinicians are available to review current treatment plans and provide recommendations specific to ASD and/or co-occurring mental health concerns. Letters are provided for OAP funding, if applicable.

Mental Health Treatment
Our experienced clinicians offer treatment for mood and anxiety disorders that considers the unique attributes common among individuals with ASD. Sessions are personalized, and depending on the individual’s age may include parents and/or a spouse.
Parent Therapy and Parent Coaching
Clinicians offer parent therapy to caregivers who are struggling themselves, and parent coaching to caregivers who wish to enhance their parenting skills. These services can be helpful for parents who are unsure how to manage challenging behaviours, would like to learn how to better support their child’s development, and/or would like guidance and support while advocating for their child.

Executive Functioning Skills Coaching
Difficulties with executive functioning skills are common among individuals who receive a diagnosis of ADHD. Our Executive Functioning Skills Coaches are trained and experienced in delivering coaching services to children, adolescents and adults who have a diagnosis of ADHD. Sessions are offered one-to-one, which allows for personalization of both content and pacing.
Literacy Coaching
Our Literacy Coaches are trained and experienced in delivering literacy coaching services to children and youth who have a diagnosis of ADHD. Sessions are offered one-to-one, which allows for personalization of both content and pacing.

NOTE: The above intervention services are offered by clinicians who are either registered Psychologists or Psychological Associates, or who are supervised by a registered Psychologist or Psychological Associate. Thus, you may be able to make use of your OAP funding in order to access these services.
