Najma Abdi provides therapy to adolescents, transition age youth, and adults. Najma has training and experience with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and integrates additional therapeutic approaches as appropriate, including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). Her work is collaborative, client-centered, and grounded in trauma-focused and evidence-based practice. Najma also provides psychological assessments for adults, including assessments for WSIB or personal insurance.
Najma holds a M.Psy. degree in Clinical and Counselling Psychology from Adler Professional Graduate school, where she is currently completing a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology. She has 5+ years of clinical experience in private practice working as a psychotherapist.
As part of her doctoral training, Najma is currently completing a practicum placement at New Leaf Psychology Centre, where her focus is on psychological assessment and evidence-based treatment with adolescents, transition age youth, and their families. This placement allows her to deepen her skills in psychodiagnostic assessment, as well as Cognitive-Behavioural and Emotion-Focused approaches across the lifespan, under the supervision of the New Leaf team.
